JOB DESCRIPTION OF SOUND ENGINEER
The job of a sound engineer is to create the album’s sound. They record, mix and edit music in various ways such as setting levels, microphones and sound manipulation methods. They are quite knowledgeable in recording technology, including analog tapes and digital multi-track recording programs like ProTools or Ableton. These individuals work alongside recording artists, assistant engineers, producers, runners and session musicians.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
There are all kinds of jobs available for a sound engineer that includes audio engineer, audio operator, mixing engineer recording engineer, dubbing room engineer, broadcast engineer, broadcast technician and mastering engineer. They may also work as a production assistant, acoustic consultant, control operator, live sound technician, sound editor or a Foley engineer (this is the person who creates the sound effects).
